Finish Options for Turned Parts

If you don't have the desired finish, please contact us, and we will customize the finish for you separately.

As-Milled

Offers the fastest turnaround but leaves visible tool marks, sharp edges, and burrs which can be removed upon request. The surface finish is similar to a 125-microinch Ra finish.

Bead Blast

Provides a smooth, matte appearance to the part surface.

Anodized

Type II creates a corrosion-resistant finish and allows for various color options such as clear, black, red, and gold, typically used with aluminum.
Type III is thicker, offering enhanced wear resistance along with corrosion protection.

Powder Coat

Involves spraying powdered paint onto the part surface, followed by baking in an oven. This results in a durable, wear- and corrosion-resistant layer available in a wide range of colors for aesthetic preferences.

What is CNC Turning?

CNC turning is a precise and efficient subtractive manufacturing process that uses computer numerical control (CNC) to shape material into cylindrical forms. The process starts with a piece of material, typically metal or plastic, securely held by a chuck or spindle. As this workpiece rotates, a cutting tool moves along its surface, removing material to shape it according to programmed instructions.

This method is highly versatile and capable of producing parts with intricate details and tight tolerances. It is particularly well-suited for producing symmetrical cylindrical shapes like rods, shafts, and tubes, but it can also handle complex profiles with varied geometries. Modern CNC turning centers may feature additional capabilities, such as live tooling, which allows for milling, drilling, and tapping operations during turning, expanding the range of features produced in a single setup.
